Install stock or Tmobile firmware on Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge from Verizon

I bought a Verizon Galaxy S6 Edge few months ago. Now I moved to T-Mobile. I am using the phone right now without any issues.

There is still Verizon crap on it that I cannot uninstall. Is it possible to install stock or preferably, T-Mobile firmware on this device?

Anybody having issues with snapchat?

Help - I'm stuck on Xposed install

I have a Verizon HTC One M8 (rooted, S-Off, TWRP, unlocked bootloader) that I have finally upgraded from 4.4.4 to 6.0. To prevent any possible radio problems I read about I did a factory reset from the bootloader screen to ensure a fresh install. After making sure that the Marshmallow worked fine I flashed the ARM framework 85 through TWRP and then installed the Xposed app. Now I am stuck where it is not working and I have searched but could not find anyone with the same problem here. I'll include a screenshot so that you know what I mean.

Broken Screen Speaker Grill replacement

So I foolishly offered to replace the broken screen on a Nexus 6. There's a lot of screws, but really good videos and there were no big surprises.

UNTIL...
I have no idea how to get the little black rectangles of plastic back in the holes at top and bottom of the phone. I've heard them called speaker grills, which is obviously inaccurate since it is a tiny slab of plastic with no holes.

But really I don't care what you call them. NO WHERE have I found anyone talking about how to put them back. There are a lot of posts about people that had them fall out. I guess Motorola FIXED that! They were extremely difficult to push out from the back side of the old screen. Nothing I do remotely comes close to popping them in to the new screen. I'm about ready to file off the tabs and use a drop of superglue. Perhaps that is even the "approved" repair.

But if anyone knows the right way to replace these things I'd love to hear it. I am fresh out of ideas.

[Solved] Heating and Lag. Thermal Throttle Control + Core Disabling

The Complete Solution for LG G Flex 2 Heating and lag
Pre-Requisites
1. Root
2. Thermal Throttle Config File (Attached)
3. Root Explorer (i.e ES File Explorer)
4. Kernel Auditor (Attached one)
Procedure:
We not only need to replace the thermal throttle config file (named: thermal-engine-8994.conf) but we also need to disable 2 cores to overcome heating issue
First download the thermal config file and install a root explorer. in the root explorer go to root/system/etc there you will find the stock thermal config file (named: thermal-engine-8994.conf). rename it to thermal-engine-8994.conf.bak (just to be safe if we need it again). now extract and copy the downloaded thermal-engine-8994.conf file to root/system/etc.
Now For the second step. ive experienced that the kernel auditor on the play store causes problems on many devices so im attaching a version that works. download the attached KernelAuditor.apk dont download from Play store. install kernel auditor. Open it , provide root acess. go to thermal tab. switch off every tweak. then go to cpu tab and turn off the 3 and 4 big cores. Maybe turn on "apply on boot" if you want. Thats all. Root and security question

If you lose your phone or it gets stolen;
With rooted phone, a person can install a new rom and use it right?
W/out root, your phone can be bricked permanently if someone tries to factory reset? Via google or samsung account. Also, you can't use odin to install any ROMs?

Or has the security on the newest android phones like s7 now have better security even when a phone is rooted?

I'm on a verge of trying to decide if I should root my S7 or not.

Review - Choetech 2 pack usb a-c cables 1m + 2m

Anyone who owns a nexus 6p and has tried to buy a longer usb a-c cable than the 6 inch cable that Google provide will know just how hard it is to find a good quality cable that meets the new usb-c standard and won't potentially fry there charging device by trying to pull 3 amps.

Google prevent the usb a-c cables from damaging charging devices by placing a 56 kohm resister in the usb c end of the cable and many cheap cables have failed to do this or they use the wrong value of resistor, there is a simple free app that allows nexus 6p owners to check cables to ensure they are safe to use. I am happy to report that these cables pass the safety checks and are safe to use with nexus 6p devices.

These particular cables are very well presented in a functional box, the larger of the two cables comes with a Velcro strap to help keep it from tangling very handy if your traveling or don't keep your cables constantly plugged in, this is a nice little touch from Choetech and adds to the premium feel of these cables.

Both cables feel like they're thick enough to withstand alot of heavy use and will hopefully last a long time, I tested both cables with my laptop and was getting good data transfer speeds and I have tested both with numerous different chargers and also get good charging speeds, very comparable to that of the Google provided cable.

I am very happy with these cables and hope to get alot of use out of them, I would quite happily recommended these to anyone after a usb a-c cable, I have seen many cables that are dearer than this for just one cable, here you get two really good quality cables for a value price. I got these cables at a discounted price for a honest unbiased review but I would quite happily pay full price for these.

Ant+ not working on Onyx E1003

The classic ADAPTER_NOT_DETECTED error that's common in nearly all marshmallow onyx roms is here. To replicate:

Install 8th June PA rom
Install 10th june BaNKS gapps
Sign into google and download the following from the play store: ant+ radio service, ant+ plugins service, ant+ demo
Open ant+ demo and click on any of the devices and ADAPTER_NOT_DETECTED pops up instead of starting the ant radio service.

Phone stuck on LG boot screen! Help?!

Ahh... So.. I just wanted to restart my phone, so I got in the menu, pressed power of and reboot and .. Now the phone is stuck on lg screen.. A blue light just blinks, lg logo is here etc and that's it.. Help please ?!?!?
Phone not rooted and I did NOTHING whatsoever.. Just wanted to do a restart..........

Can't install Google Play Games.

Hi everybody.

I have a Kingzone K2 smartphone and I can't install Google Play Games

HTC M8 WI-FI issues

My HTC M8 has stopped to connect to the router (DIR 635) for 2 days. Moreover, it disconnects the internet from the router. Without htc connected, the WiFi is working (PC+tablet). But HTC gone mad. What should I do? Factory reset? I thought it was the router to blame, but it seems that HTC is the one with issue. The error shows that the once HTC connected, "the network is changed". HTC has been updated to Marshmallow 6.0 since February. :confused:

Install Xposed on cm13 based roms

For those who were trying to flash xposed-sdk23-arm64 zip and was getting read only system.

1.First you need to flash the Systemless SuperSu Beta zip by the @Chainfire
2.Then flash the Systemless Xposed by @topjohnwu
3.Install the latest version of Material Design Xposed Installer

FTV 1 boots only with usb stick

I have a strange issue that my rooted Fire TV 1 will only boot with an USB flash drive connected. Without it I only get a white flashing light and no picture after the first Amazon logo.

There is nothing on the drive and every drive works, size is irrelevant.

That the system works with a flash drive attached was discovered by accident when I connected my USB hub with a keyboard and flash drive to the Fire TV to get into recovery.

Has anyone a idea or explanation about what happend here to my system?

very slow forums loading

for maybe a week now, it's very slow for me to view the forum on firefox on both PC and mobile, actually in Mobile firefox it load the index page of any forum or sub-forum and can not load the thread ...
i tried different browser on PC but the same result, i even say a post here about using a US proxy but even that didn't help...
the browser loads most of the pages element (slowly) and stay on loading signal like there are things not loaded yet

The headphone jack on my xperia P is not working any more. I don't know when did this happened. The device does not detect when I plugin the cable in the jack.

Please, any suggestion to fix it!

Help me root this thing PLEASE

So here's the thing: I've just gotten hands on my G4, and I've been sitting here for 6 HOURS straight trying to root it, so I could install TWRP and then install CM13. But it's being F***** IMPOSSIBLE, I've tried loads of guides and tools and all I've got so far was a soft brick (which I managed to fix after a hard reset) and a big headache. Also, is there anyway I could root it on Android 6.0? Because when I tried to root it earlier I had to download this 1.4GB file that would literally take 10 hours to download. NOPE. Either I root it on Android 6.0 or anyone links me someplace else to download it, or it's not gonna happen. So anyway, any good sould would PLEASE explain me step by step how to do this? I used to mod phones a lot back in 2014 but it's been a while since I did it. My G4 is the H815.

Need help!! Receiving repeated texts

Hello. I'm need of help. My samsung s6 keeps receiving and seems to sending texts to and from certain contacts over and over again. Sometimes for a few hours but as long as a full day sometimes. I dont know what is happening. I was able to block texting to those contacts and it seemed to stop. Texts with these contacts was typically in a group text (mms) and would happen daily. I noticed that when we would group text sometimes some of the messages would stay pending "download" and even after several attempts to dowload it the message would just stay pending so i would just ignore it. But later in the day and/or very late that night i would start receiving all these messages which seem to be the same ones over and over again. Much more people were letting me know that they were receiving texts messages from me. Its gotten to the point where at times i just shut down my phone overnight and pray that it clears up by morning. It had been. Any help you can point me to would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Gear Fit 2 in Denmark (Language question)

I want to buy the new Gear Fit 2, but it hasn't been released in Denmark yet. I'm considering ordering it from Germany since it's the closest country where it has been released so it would arrive here earlier, but I'm worried that the device's language might be locked to German, as I recall reading some posts about users who bought the Gear Fit 1 having trouble changing the language.
Ordering from the US, Canada or Australia is not an option either, as it would have to go through customs and I would end up paying import tax.

So does anyone know, if I order the Gear Fit 2 from Germany, will the device be running in German? And if so, will I be able to change it to English in the device settings, or maybe from the Samsung Gear app on my S7E?
Would there be any other problem that I'm not contemplating right now?

PLEASE HELP Cannot Unbrick Galaxy Tab S2 8.0

Hey guys. I've been trying to fix this problem for a couple weeks now and haven't gotten anywhere.

Product: SM-T710 (Galaxy Tab S2 8.0) running Android 5.0.2.

Bought as new. Worked for about an hour, then bricked itself. No boot-loop, just stuck at the boot screen on the Samsung logo. Can enter download mode, but cannot power off or enter recovery mode.

I have re-flashed stock ROM and TWRP many times. When I flash TWRP the only change is that it now says recovery is not seandroid enforicing at boot.

LG G5 - Not saving new APN

Hi guys,
I tried to register my simcard automatically, however this failed, so next thing I did was to register APN manually.
Ive got all the correct data from my provider.
However upon saving the APN, it simply doesn't get saved, and the screen goes back to Access Point.

In the accesspoint there's only "SmarTone."

Anyone an idea how I can add a new APN ?

PS.
Simcard is working fine, tested it in a sony xperia z3 compact.

Update: Just saw that my phone is trying to connect to T-mobile, which is incorrect, they use other data and I dont use T-mobile.

[Review] Choetech 50w QC3 6 port charger

Hi All,

I know there is a review for the 55w usb c charger, but here is mine of the 50w 6 port QC 3 Charger. Just to note this was sent to me to review, however this is all my own opinions.

The item is very nicely built, it has a soft rubber texture and feels very well built.
In the box you get the charger itself, a UK 3 pin power lead as well as a USB C cable and a little stand with a rubber base to keep it in place.

The charger itself has 2 QC3 ports (in blue) and 3 normal ports.

Using my usb voltage/battery meter, the QC 3 Ports draw 8.9v and 1.5a using the supplied usb c cable. On the HTC 10 the phone recognises this and shows as "charging rapidly" (very big plus point as not all QC3 chargers do this). For speeds it has charger 100maH of power over 3 minutes, works out about 5% battery on the phone itself. Total charge time is just over an hour.

The normal ports draw 5v over 1.4a, this takes the charging down to about 50mah over 3 mins, which the phone shows as about 2/3% battery. This takes the overall charging time to just over 2 hours.
I then kept the htc 10 plugged into the qc3 port and plugged in other phones into the normal ports to see how many you can charge at the same time.

1) First phone (htc m7) = no difference to charging rate of the htc 10.
2) Second phone (htc 8x) = v remained at 8.9v but amps just dropped down a tiny fraction to 1.46a (did jump around more)
3) Third phone – (htc desire hd) = voltage moving between 8.89v and 8.9v, amp jumping between 1.4a and 1.5a.
4) Fourth phone – (Samsung non smart phone) = voltage down to 8.89v solid and amps still jumping.
5) Last phone (asus tablet) = voltage down to 8.89v solid and amps still jumping from around 1.2a to 1.4a

So I now have 5 phones and 1 tablet plugged in charging into the port. The HTC 10 is still "charging rapidly" only drawing 0.1v less than on its own. In terms of charging speed it has dropped from 100ma every 3 mins to around 50mah every 3 mins (i.e. halved). Unplugging phones the jump point did tend to be around 3/4phones until it actually made a noticeable difference to charging speeds.

During this whole process the charging did not get noticeable hot, it warmed up a little a top but nothing major enough to cause any issues.

For ref - The test took around 30 minutes, the usb voltage meter reads 750maH drawn (including unplugged and putting in non qc3 ports and having all 6 phones plugged in) and the phone has gone from 39% to 82% = 43% jump hike.
Note – The charger does have a small blue led on the front when plugged in, it's not very bright to light up a dark room but might distract some people if they want to place it close while in bed.

Overall I would give this a good 5/5 stars. Great build quality, the actually does take full advantage of the QC 3 capabilities. It also can charge multiple devices without making too much of an impact on charge speed's (unless you use all 6 ports). My only downside is the LED light which is just personal preference, can easily be covered up with a tiny bit of black tape.

I currently have loaded stock rom 9005XXUGBOL3_N9005VFGGBOL2_N9005XXUGBOJ2_HOME.tar. md5 and I have problems with the signal is always I have one dash or two sometimes even 4 when the day of your SIM card in another phone to operate signal normally all certice what to do all this happened to me from when I phone root and I'm also new modem loaded and bootloader and I had costum rom 6.0 because I had problems with the signal I returned to the stock ROM, but nothing like what's wrong with my phone

Is there a way to make the UI have rounded corners by modifying SystemUI? It was default on Xperia KK, then they removed it on LP but an Xposed module had that option. KIII android tv box[Help/Advice]

I have 2 different android boxes, on the KIII tv box, I like to run torrents while I watch youtube videos. Problem is with this box it closes the app as soon as I switch to another.
I already check the box in developer settings to not kill any apps in background, It still does.
Is it something I'm missing? My mini mx does not do this is this just a KIII thing, where I can only run 1 app at a time?

[Q] Nexus 7 Stuck booting to Clockworkmod Recovery v6.0.3.1

I was just given a Nexus 7 2012, it seems it's somewhat bricked. When turned on, it boots passed the Google screen to ClockWorkMod Recovery v6.0.3.1, on the scren, but none of the buttons do anything, and no matter what combo of buttons I try, I can't get it to bootloader mode or anything else, so recovery toolkit won't find it because it can't fastboot/adb. Any ideas to rescue this thing?

GPS not working properly

Hello. I've got [ROM] Android Revolution HD 93.0 installed and I can't seem to get my GPS working properly. I've tried both Gmaps and Here Drive and the phone gets stuck on "looking/searching for gps" so it wont "talk" to me.

Any solutions? I did reinstall both apps but it didnt work.

Emulating a simple RFID tag?

Hi, I have a few RFID cards hanging out in my wallet (school printer, door etc.) and the systems associated with them all seem to be using only the card's UID to identify the user.

Is there any app (probably non-playstore as I haven't been able to find anything there), that use the HCE API and would be able to read the tags and then make the phone act as one? (So I could, for example, unlock the printer using the phone instead of the card)

I know this question has been asked a million times over, but I wasn't able to find anything even after like 2 hours of googling... So, if you have any ideas, please do share them with me.

updater process ended with error 7

Hey all

Just got a gen 2 2014.Rooted,unlocked bootloader and installed twrp but when I try to install any of the roms for my model xt1068 I get an error "updater process ended with error 7".

Iv tried rerooting,factory restores, reinstalling different versions of twrp and nothing works.Another strange think,I cant power the phone off it just reboots .

How to upgrade from balongc52b311 (Android 6 Single SIM) to Android 6 Dual SIM

Hi. I have new phone Huawei P8lite from T-mobile and I have version of FW balongc52b311 at now. This version is only SingleSIM. I need DualSim.
I tried to do downgraid (fail after 5%) Instal directly Android 6 to dual SIM (fail after 5%). In Update section I do not have update from local storage. I have to reboot with using all 3 buttons.
Please has someone manual for it. Which version I have to update at first? I do not want to damage bootloader (loop problem)
At now I have unlocked bootloader. And phone is ok.

[HELP] Honor 6 problem --> Google play services eats 37% of the battery

Hello,

I have recently bough a Honor 6 (Emui 4.0, model H60-L04, B820, android 6.0) and google play services eats 37% of my battery software usage. I have tried a factory reset but the problem still happening.


GPS and location services are disabled. Do someone have any idea about what could i do to solve this issue?

Fire TV 2 Update problem HELP.

Thinking about buying a HuiFei MCU-MX unit - can someone answer a few ?easy queries

Overheating Problem (Simple Solution)

Hello,
After a year of optimizing my G Flex 2(which i love so much...) and trying all the tweaks around the xda... I found that the only solution that will almost save your phone from overheating is the simpliest! (other solutions are good too but with this i got the best results)
First of all you need ROOT! So after rooting your phone:
1. You should get the custom thermal config from XDA (crucial step). Improves CPU performance and unlocks the brightness
2. Install Kernel Adiutor from Play store
3.In the Kernel Adiutor go to the thermal tab and disable core control and any other switch is on!
4.After switching thermals go to the CPU tab and on the big cores disable Cores 2 and 3 (your phone becomes hexacore, if they reopen their selfs try other combination of disabling)
5.Then set the Maximum big core frequency down to 1536Mhz
6.Enable on boot
And thats all you are ready to roll cool 'n' smooth
***IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER TWEAK LIKE THE ONES FOR EX KERNEL MANAGER OR THE init.qcom.post_boot DISABLE THEM BECAUSE THEY CHANGE THE CPU FREQUENCIES AND RESTART THE CORES

A possible method of unlocking the RT?

Hello RT forum! Please allow me a moment to state that the most I've done in terms of unlocking a bootloader is: follow clear instructions already discovered by other people and posted for the world to see on how to unlock Nexus devices and install custom ROMs. So please forgive me if the post may seem arrogant, naive, or insulting to those who are pro at this kind of stuff.

I'm just desperate to make use of my RT at this point and would love to find a use for it, and the knock off surface tablet that Remix OS is using for their tablet version is really making me more hopeful then I should be.

So my question, is it possible to swap out hardware to a third party piece that has an unlocked bootloader? I know that for Windows the BIOS is closely linked to the motherboard, so maybe there's a motherboard out there that's not quite tablet price which we can use?

I'm currently using aicp and give random reboots same as cm13, DU.... I just want to know which is the best rom in term of customizations and stability. I even need more battery backup. No LTE while on phone calls - Rogers Wireless

I have been noticing that I do not have LTE while on phone calls. I have seen a few threads addressing this but it's all for Verizon. I am on Rogers in Canada. I am wondering if something is not functioning properly or if this is working as intended.

Hey I believe many people have questions around the KNOX and warranty void if you root/install custom recovery.

So I woud like to know:

Is there any software besided KingOroot (doesn't work in A5 510M) or Kingroot (I'm not installing that thing because plenty of people says it steal your data or are impossible to remove) which can root without messing with partitions / custom recovery, meaning it won't trigger the knox counter?

Has anyone confirmed that by only having the KNOX counter triggered samsung has denied to give warranty? Even if the phone is unroot?

Is there any method that roots the device without KNOX tripping?

Part of GNU/Linux for Android devices project

First of all, this project is not ready for end users but everything is provided to build an archlinux system for the Sony Xperia S. So you will be able to have a complete system with GPU hardware acceleration, support of vibrator, sensors, GPS, wifi etc (everything is not yet tested like bluetooth, nfc...). Graphical applications are already able to display (Qt/Kwin tested but GTK3/kwin should be ok too).

This project is not just for this device and is really open to support multiple devices and GNU/Linux distributions. So you can share this project everywhere (xda, distributions forum...) ! Contribution are welcome and can be discussed directly on this thread to share efforts.

Introduction

This is a project to create a convergence between the desktop and the mobile/phablet/TV... so to build new mobile OS based on existing GNU/Linux distributions with the most common parts possible. We share some common base between mer-hybris (SailfishOS) and Ubuntu Touch but the architecture and integration are different (refer to Architecture).

Cell phone are powerful and expensive for flag ship so why just use it as a phone ?
Imagine that your cell phone can become your core device ! Plug it to a big screen and this is your workstation ! Plug it to an 'empty' laptop (no CPU, no RAM needed ...) and this is your laptop ! Move everywhere and this is just your mobile phone !

This is what motivate this project.

Applications

Applications are critical on a mobile platform and we hope to support Android application as soon as possible (need further studies to complete the architecture).
GNU/Linux applications are already compatible but not always adapted for a mobile phone for now but... We hope a lot of plasma mobile and KDE convergence guideline for Application developers :)

Source code

There is few projects and some fork available under my github but if you want to start to port a new distribution or a new device, everything is documented in the gnulinux_support project.

Android needs to be modified but we deliver a solution that permit to be integrated upstream and so to compile Android or Android for GNU/Linux with the same code.
For now we have only Android 5.1.1 patches available but 6.0 will come soon. CyanogenMod 12.1 and 13.0 can be a good target to support a lot of devices in the future (or at least to simplify the portage process per device).

• libhybris_ext (compatibility version with support of Android 5+)
• Android integration with GNULINUX_SUPPORT (rc, init, busybox, ramdisk, OTA ... adaptation)
• clean rootfs with only 2 symlinks that permit to see that we are on an Android device (nothing more)
• OpenGL support (with backend hwcomposer or SurfaceFlinger)
• Archlinux support (OTA and packaging)
• Design a possible solution for a lot of other GNU/Linux distributions (share architecture and Android adaptation)

Got into soft (or even hard) brick

Hello, ive tried to root a XT1580 model and got into a bootloop. It appears the Moto logo ans stucked.

A did some wipes and I think that I could have done a system one. Since then, Im stucked into bootloader/recovery TWRP.

Ive tried to flash all stock roms available, no sucess. I got "Could not find 'META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary' in the zip file" error. And its not because of the file, ive tried many of them.

At bootloader it shows my deviceas unlocked / with modified software status / and basebad as not found. When I connect a USB cable it charges and Im able to acess SD cards into recovery.

Ive received a "no OS installed" when tried to reboot, I dont know what Ive done to not appear anymore. But when I try to rebbot, nor it just come back to booatloder. The log is something about kernel. I tried to download some kernels but didint help.

PLEASE.... what should I do?

Help! Urgent! Boot verification failed cause is mismatch_sig_len. Fix?

So, I tried to root my phone using Kingroot, and everything looked fine and it said successful. When it ran out of battery, I charged it while I slept. boot loop? soft-brick? HELP!

Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated. I have a Sprint HTC One M7 that was previously rooted. How to check status of dm verity? To make sure it's disabled.

Hello everybody! I recently bricked my s7e by trying to install the superman mod because I was jumping between two guides and just followed the chapter for flashing the new bootloaders and not the beginning about twrp and so on.

Now I've done everything more carefully and thoroughly and executed the file for disabling dm verity and encryption. However I want to know if it is really disabled because I don't want to make the same mistake and have to reset me device again. Can you guys help me with how I check the status of em verity and encryption? I've tried to reach but just finds posts about people having the verification fail issue.

Overheating during playing VR videos

My device throttle after about 5 min of playing videos using almost any app if i enabled lens distortion correction. It doesn't heat up that fast if i disabled this mode. Actually this cause dizziness and i can't continue what i watch. Im using latest official rom 6.0.1

Screen doesn't work anymore! Please Help!

Hello there,

today, it just happened out of the blue, my pretty new S7 does only show up a blank grass green screen now! It can be turned off and on, touch works. I just can't see anything at all anymore. I really need a way to mirror the screen to the PC or something... USB debugging is not active :crying:. There are some apps installed, I need to use because I have to create the backup files in them!
What would be the easiest way to get access to this?
The phone is connected to my WiFi (I guess) if that helps.

3 things I'm struggling to achieve

I'm coming from SlimKat on S4 mini and I could not get following 3 things on B564:

So I just switched from G3 to G4 and I don't know these ROMs yet. I'm currently using Genisys with Imperium kernel. For the moment everything is fine. Is there a way to remove the startup swipe screen while keeping screen lock?

I'm on Marshmallow and use SmartLock, so under the right conditions no unlock is required. However, at switch on there is nevertheless always still a screen to be swiped away (clock and emergency contact). Does anyone know a way of eliminating that stage, so that switch on goes directly to the desktop?

I'm on Marshmallow and use SmartLock, so under the right conditions no unlock is required. However, at switch on there is nevertheless always still a screen to be swiped away (clock and emergency contact). Does anyone know a way of eliminating that stage, so that switch on goes directly to the desktop?

Just got M9 - battery disappearing as I watch?

Up until 3pm today I had an M8 which I have had from new, but got the chance to upgrade to a mint condition M9 for £30 so took the chance. (I do have the opportunity to change back if I want to)

All is good except for one thing. The battery. When it is on I can literally watch the power % drop. It's UK, Sense 7 MM 6.0 Base 3.335.401.12

Battstats just show screen and google services taking the majority.

Checked screen off stats, no issues there. Turned brightness to auto but still no joy.

Am I missing something?

btw, took the chance to upgrade the M8 as it needed constant recharging during the day.

NEED HELP!! phone rooted through ONE CLICK ROOT

OK, so the phone (SGH-S959G/Straight Talk) got rooted properly.... through ONE CLICK ROOT, BUT, I lost my ability to connect to wi-fi & cannot seem to fix that. I also have TWRP on it because everything I read says I cannot get CWM for it. I am an idiot when it comes to doing this kind of thing, so be gentle with me!! I cannot get a custom rom on my phone, I tried to use cyanogenmod, but when I go into TWRP & do the install, it goes through the process then just says "FAILED" in big red letters at the bottom. I did check the box about the signatures & it still failed. All I wanted to do, was to upgrade the android version from the 2.3.6 to whatever the highest one available for this phone (I believe that is 4.1.2). So if anyone can help me finish getting this thing usable, I would greatly appreciate it!!

New Fire Tablet updating ..help

I just got a kindle fie and it had 5.1.1. I was about to root it and it restarted and tried doing a system update. Is there a way to stop this. every time I try to turn it on it goes into the updating system screen... I tried hard resetting to no avail. am I screwed?

How can I get rid of red text/developer warning?

I get the red text/developer warning "This is a build for development purposes..." between reboots when I see the HTC logo screens. It started halfway into the process of converting my Unlocked HTC 10 to a VZW Variant, but hoped it was just a temporary thing that would go away once I did a factory reset or flashed a new Rom. I've tried doing a few searches while at work, but haven't found any info on a fix specifically for the HTC 10. Fixes I found were for the M9a and earlier, but I figured they wouldn't work for this device anyway.

Does a fix exist or will the red warning haunt my HTC 10 forever?

Weather never auto updates

I know there is a thread related to this, but I never saw a solution.

My Gear S2 stock Weather app never auto-updates. Not even when I open the app. In order to update the current conditions in my city, I have to tap on the city, then scroll all the way to the bottom to the refresh button.

In the Samsung Gear app on my Galaxy S4, I have gone into the Settings>Weather settings, and I have selected to Auto Refresh every 6 hours. I have Use Current Location turned off (maybe that's my problem?).

Anyone have ideas?

G5 lag on wake and you tube?

Anyone else experiencing lag on their g5 mine continually struggles to wake sometime needing a good thirty seconds to spring to life?

Also the you tube app continually stutters and freezes up the phone whether connected to fibre broadband or 4g?

Archos Platinum 55 - Settings Deleted...oops.

So... I have an Archos 55 and well, root is dangerous, particularly when you're being annoyed with pop up adverts and want to get them gone.

TL;DR:

So basically this all started when I found that web pages and adverts were just opening. Whether I was using the device or not, they'd just magically appear, sometimes ten at a time, accessing the internet at will. I was not best pleased as I have not long purchased the phone, but true to form, Archos have no idea what customer service means, so I was left to attempt to remedy the situation myself. Ordinarily, I would have just formatted and reinstalled the O.S, I do that with linux all the time alas I knew that was difficult.

Instead I sought to find out what exactly was causing the adverts. I deleted all the apps I had installed, but still the adverts kept coming. I did a factory wipe. Still with the adverts. At this point I was a bit stuck, so I grabbed an anti-virus app. It showed a few things that were causing problems including one trojan, under com.android.settings (or something to that name). I made a few enquiries and needless to say, this wasn't a false positive, but it had meant that I had a trojan...and I really don't like trojans. Cue the rage and the not thinking properly as I deleted com.android.settings without making a backup thinking... "shouldn't be too hard to put back"...oh how wrong I was...

I of course tried to make amends by grabbing a "copy" of settings from another site (and possibly a different phone) but I was told that it was ROM and no amount of permission changing was going to change that (I tried and I apparently failed, I may have possibly been doing something wrong, but I don't think my chown/chmod skills are `that` shabby).

The problem:
- No access to settings. Settings doesn't exist. (No access to USB Debugging either because that requires tapping the about phone bit and guess what...)
- Can't install apps as something has "Stopped".
- No access to WiFi
- Using Linux (Ubuntu something or other...15 I think).
- Mobile Tinkering Newb (But I'm not totally tech illiterate).

I do have access to fastboot mode apparently.

So what I think I need is a way to reinstall lollipop 5.1 so I can get back to square one, without (at least initially) using ADB (because I've tried and my device just refuses to show). I've also tried a few "needrom" things but, of course, they don't work because linux.

If anyone could possibly help me, I would be greatly appreciative in any way. I just want wifi back really. (I can see that wifi works and a network is available I just can't edit the settings to access it). If I can provide more information, please ask and I shall provide.
