Dual Sim Question - 1 Data Sim, 1 Voice/SMS Sim

Sorry if this is a stupid question, is it possible to use 1 sim slot for data (3G/4G) and the other with voice/sms (2G)?
Will a voice call or sms come through while you are using data on the data sim?
