So happy to own a mate 8 :)

I just bought a mate 8, before I had a mate 7, I have meanwhile bought a R7plus Oppo which was a disaster.

Help regarding the audio quality.

I guys I'm planning to buy this device. I want to get this phone for the audio. Has any one listened to 320kbps mp3 vs flacc other lossless compression audio? Do they sound different on this device? Most of the smartphones play flac like regular mp3. Please help me here thank you. Also since the source codes are out I will try my best to build an AOSP Rom(if I get this device in the near future).

Is there a way to disable and re-enable LTE bands from within Android (sans USB)?

Is it possible to write NV values directly to the Nexus 6P's NVRAM, from within Android, and not over USB? And is it possible to commit the new NV values by just rebooting the modem and not the phone?

Samsung phones have this ability. They have a native service mode tool built-in that lets you choose a band and it disables all other bands automatically.

Also, are people not aware of the immense benefit of being able to do this? When LTE speeds are slow, it's usually because the modem is connected to a low frequency tower that is very far away, and the attenuation is only allowing for ~1mbps, but the modem sticks to it because the signal is equal to the nearest high frequency antenna, even though that high frequency antenna would give 5mbps+.

With Samsung's tool you can simply disable the offending low frequency bands (B5/B12/B13/B17/B20/B26), and the modem will switch to one of the available high frequency bands (B2/B3/B4/B7/B25/B40/B41).

A reverse scenario to this would be where too many people are on the high frequency bands, and the tower's QoS is dividing the speed by the number of connected handsets, which frequently reduces the speed to almost nothing. One could then disable the high frequency bands and get a low frequency band with better speed.

Is there a tool or module that does this on the Nexus 6P?

LG G3 D855 not powering on but recognized by the computer

Hey, I wanted to install CM on my LG G3 (D855) 5.1. I rooted the phone with no problem. After rooting I tried to install TWRP using "(D855) LG G3 AutoRec-Lollipop" from GP. When this was done, tried to boot into the recovery, but nothing happened. Also the phone doesn't turn on anymore. No led indication when it is attached to a charger.
Tried removing the battery for about 12 hours - no effect. The only time I got the screen to light up was when the battery was dead and the screen showed that it is at 0%.
Hopefully there is a glimmer of hope - when I attach it to my laptop, it recognizes the device - it shows up as "LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM18)"
Any suggestions on what I can try to do to unbrick it?

FYI: Viper4Android DOES WORK

You just need to use the "Sony Beats Edition 5.5" to make it work. This version is a flashable zip and has the driver prepackaged.

It can be found in this thread:

And here is the direct download link:

Note 3 n9005 problem booting

I have this Note 3 sm-n9005 that i have bought a year and a half ago. 7 monthos ago, I installed lollipop manually with Odin and today i have a problem with booting it. It boots after 9 or 10 minutes and it shows a message unfortunately com.sec.imsservice has stopped working and it stays like that for a while and it restarts again. I even tried booting it in safe mode and clearing the cache and data of contacts and com.sec.imsservice but it happens again and again. What do you think i should do?

Just received an update (not sure if MM) for my Sprint LG Flex 2

I usually check pretty regularly for updates by going to settings, and have done so since I got my Flex 2 (only a few moths ago.) For the longest time, it never found anything, saying I was up to date. But now I just got a notification saying an update is available.

Is this the MM update?
Also, is it safe to install this update or any other update for that matter when my device is rooted?
I have a backup of my ZV9 system on my internal memory as always, just wondering if I an download the update with root.

XEH on originally PAN S5

Hi everyone

I'm new there and i've got a question. I'd like to flash an original XEH rom (6.0.1) to my PAN S5 from SamMobiles which is still 5.0 'cause in Hungary Telenor haven't released 6.0.1 yet while T-Mobile, Vodafone did so like a month ago. Will it be any difference between the two roms? I know basic Telenor apps that is in the original PAN rom won't be installed automatically.
Or should I wait for Marshmallow few more days? Can it be possible they will make this update?

Thanks for your help :)

MIUI Global 7.2.4.0.0 uses A LOT of RAM. (?)

Hello. Couldn't find a post related to this. I'm not a lazy browser, been on XDA for many years through many phones. Just haven't had the need for a user account until now.

I see the 7.2.4.0.0 version is removed from MIUI websites and i can think of a few reasons already.

Does anyone else have this problem too? I have the 3GB version and normally start out with 1.7gb RAM after a boot. Gradually over the day (even after closing apps) it goes slowly down to 200mb and i have to do a reboot.
Or Does anyone have the 6.5.30 version and could tell if it uses up the RAM over time?

Sincerely
John

[THEME] Sony Concept ROM navigation bar icons theming

I thought theming the Sony Concept ROM wasn't possible, aside from using icon packs.

But I found an APK that allows to change the navigation bar icons.
Does anyone know how this is done? (Or is this a theme meant for non-Concept ROM (Sony stock ROM) that somehow also works for Concept ROM?)
Also, are there more APKs that do Concept ROM nav bar theming?

Help, I need a particular apk from any nokia x2 device[not on a custom ROM]

I accidentally deleted the Start app that comes pre-installed in Nokia X2-DS. I need somebody to upload its apk, it can be found in system apps(access it by root explorer/es3 explorer). Any help is much appreciated.

Avg Battery Life and benchmark Score Nexus 6P

Reason I made this post is that I have been browsing around and I've been seeing some okay benchmark scores and avg battery life. Although my benchmark score and battery life is far beyond what I've seen reviewed and posted. After a full charge my battery life goes for 15 hours on normal use and my AnTuTu benchmark score is 79600. Would be great to know the others avg battery life and benchmark scores. I'm just curious I'm not putting much weight on it. Also if anyone would like to know how I've managed to get these numbers I'd be glad to show you all.

Vodafone - nasty bloatware tackticks...

I just read on another forum that Vodafone are pushing bloatware to your phone even if you have a Sim free phone bought independently... They are disguising it as an ota update and trying to trick you into loading their bloatware apps...

Scummy attitude!

They keep pushing it to your phone until you download it...

I'm sure they do it for all phone brands, but I'm putting it here as it happened to a 10 user.

Qualcomm KeyMaster keys extracted

First off, relevant Twitter post: https://twitter.com/laginimaineb/sta...51964857561093

posted by /u/sephr on reddit.com/r/android:
So basically, Full Disk Encryption is now much easier to bypass on many devices until this gets fixed. There are a few other things that rely on this, but FDE is the most important.

This is where your encryption key is stored. Your encryption key is itself encrypted by the password you enter to decrypt your device (your password decrypts a bigger more reliable password essentially), so if you don't have a very long and secure password, it is now easy to break FDE, as an attacker won't be limited by a limited number of password attempts.
Attackers can extract your key and brute force your password using it.

6P Dead and Huawei Won't Help

I purchased a used Nexus 6P a couple of months ago. It died while I was using it a few days ago. It will not show any signs of life whatsoever. It will not even accept a charge.

I spoke to Huawei and explained the problem. They refuse to repair the phone even though I am willing to pay for the repair. They say that if I do not have a valid receipt (Ebay, Swappa, etc. don't count) that I am out of luck. Amusingly, I was told that they have a way of determining if the phone was ever rooted (which I do not believe) and that if it was ever rooted, this also voids their responsibility for repairs even out of warranty.

I have never had a hardware failure like this and have tinkered with perhaps 20 phones over the years. I have never run across this situation before.

Can anyone suggest an alternative or do I though this expensive device in the trash?

Tab S2 or Note Pro

I can get a Tab S2 from t-mobile or a used Note pro from ebay or something...The screen real estate of the note pro is enticing. they both have 3GB or ram, but the s2 is Octa-core. Not much use for the S-pen when I had a regular Note, but occasionally used it. I know the note pro has been out for a while, just wonder how future proof it is. is the quad-core snap 800 enough?

First impressions

Just picked up a brand new T-Mobile G5 yesterday, traded in my Note 5, using the JoD program, I still have 1 more "Jump" available for this year. Might not have been the smartest switching of phones, but I was getting bored of the Note 5, and wanted to try something fresh and different, never having owned an LG phone before. The Note 5 was a nice phone, I was just done with it.

Was between the HTC 10 or LG G5, and the G5 had a ton of promos going for it, and was cheaper, than the 10.

First impressions;

- It really is a better looking phone than pictures do it justice, looks pretty sleek and very modern. It surprised me actually, thought it would be an ugly phone, but it really is unique and cool looking.

- Overall size is very nice, smaller than the Note 5, like an in-between size, not a small 4.7" iPhone 6S size, but also not a large phablet size either, the G5 is a good middle ground size. Feels good in the hand, rests comfortably in the hand, and lays flat on a table, which I like, not a fan of the canoe type phone, that rock back and forth when on the desk.

- Screen is a bit dimmer in brightness, doesn't seem to get as bright as I would like. Even inside the Office on auto, it's too dim, and if I manually adjust, it needs to be set to like 70%, whereas the Note 5 never needed to be set that high in the office, it was more like 50% at most. Outdoors both the Note 5 and G5 are still hard to see in the sunlight. Overall the screen seems ok to me, not bad, but not great either.

- Speed, this thing flies, very smooth, very fluid, really no issue with performance.

- Battery ? Too early to say, but hot damn the Quick Charge 3.0 is insanely fast. Just plug it in for like 20 minutes, and I get 50% charged, it's shockingly fast at how much battery % gets charged up so quick.

- I rooted the phone, and running Xposed with some battery friendly mods, and all AdAway type stuff. As well as a debloating zip to wipe all the bloat and crap, and Titanium Backup to delete a lot of stock LG crap.

- LG UI isn't that bad, but I run Nova launcher, and a ton of stock Google apps, so I don't see a lot of the stock LG stuff, but for what it is, the LG UI is just fine, no issues with it whatsoever.

So overall this seems to be a nice phone, but I do wish the screen was brighter and of higher quality, and we'll see about battery life ? The build quality seems very good, and I do like the unique style of the phone. But to be honest, since I do have 1 more "Jump" left this year through T-Mobile, I will save that for either the Note 6 or possibly the HTC Nexus line, rumored to be back with carriers this year. No sense wasting a "Jump" on the HTC 10 or S7 Edge right now, may as well wait till Aug / Sept see those upcoming phones first. The S7 Edge does look great, but the T-Mobile version is locked down, zero rooting, which is a deal breaker for me.

Can you use a Moto 360 2nd Gen strap?

Hey so I've been searching around for silicone bands for my huawei watch, I tried amazon(international) but they don't deliver to where I live and the amazon for my country has them but almost 5 times what I'd pay if I ordered it from an international seller. What I did find was silicone bands for the Moto 360 2nd gen that were much much cheaper(probably made locally) before ordering I wanted to know if they would be cross compatible. Tried doing a few searches couldn't find anything concrete. Anyone whose tried this?

Any root methods for 5.0 yet?

I'm upset at this point. I just attempted to downgrade to 4.4.2 yesterday but that didn't work (obviously), so I'm stuck. Has ANYONE found anything leading to how to unlock the bootloader for us? I would do it myself but I don't know how. Any support is appreciated.

T537V - Downgrade 5.1.1 (OG1) to 4.4.4 (NK1)?

Flashing the NK1 firmware onto a T537V with OG1 installed results in an error at aboot.mbn.

On the boot screen i get,
SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 3 > Binary 2.
my guess is that this is not possible without a modified aboot.

anyone had any luck with this?
thank you.

Astro tablet ptbl9c

I have a couple problems with my tablet. When I plug in the tablet with the 5v wall charger the screen comes on and it shows the start up emblem but there is allot of lines through it and it shakes. I've tried hard reseting and the same screen shows up. I've tried holding the power button and volume down and up and nothing works. I've opened the tablet, but everything seems to be connected no noticeable loose cables. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Nearly softbricked my S6 edge, f.... up from time to time

Hi

Rooted my S6, and threw TWRP recovery on, put a "sixperience S7" rom on it, at first it worked flawlessly, but since I didnt make a factory reset i pulled one later, thats when my problems started.

Installs fine, reboots and the initial start and setup goes fine, but when the screen turns off and i wake it up again, the screen looked like a pc screen with no gfx driver, funky colors and very dark - tried two times to make a clean install, same happened

Tried to install stock rom with Odin, failed, tried 3-4 times, fails

Then i went into TWRP and deleted all......but seriously all......coudnt boot into anything then, not even download mode, got the message on the screen that "something went wrong in updating the firmware, try the emergency recovery with Samsung Smart Switch" That of course couldnt connect to the phone, when i finally got it to be recognized by the computer, my phone wasn't supported by the program (because it is rooted i read somewhere)

After an hour with a lot of swearing and crying almost, I tried to connect it to Odin and i got connected, installed a new TWRP and i got it into recovery where i could install a new rom, and the phone booted again

Heres my question, when i put it into download mode (tried to install stock rom with Odin once more) then I cannot boot it again, I have to install TWRP and a new rom before I can get it up and running again, is there any possibility to get a stock rom installed ever again?

Anyway, the device starts (it's not bricked), but the INTERNAL STORAGE is say's Total 0.00b.... I've already granted root access, i suppose Somehow the firmware got corrupted...
If there's a way to flash it or to restore the internal memory.. (it doesn't even lets me install any app-cause of insufficient memory- even when I erased some pre-charged apps)
Can you Help ME?
Or where should my post go?

Thnx doods!

Hi All,

I have some questions before I buy this phone.....

- Recording during night I noticed that the framerate drops ...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5Q501UkZbw

(I dont really understand it)

- How is the loud audio recording? Comparable to the 950 XL ? (4 HAAC Mics) or distortion is present? (who cares about 96000Hz if it cant handle the loud bass)

To be Honest I really want to come back again (I was a proud m7-m8 owner) but the Microsoft 950XL recording feature is just amazing.... Please help me out here..

Thanks

Sudden Death Z3

Hello all,

For some strange reason my phone died on me friday, the last time i saw it on was while updating.
It wasn't charging at the time so i thought maybe the battery ran out, but when i connected it with the charger my phone wouldn't boot correctly.
My Z3 was in a bootloop, it could still be detected by my pc but i couldn't do anything due the fact it was turning off and on all the time.
I tried to enter recovery mode but it instantly restarted itself...
Pc Companion wasn't detecting my phone so i couldn't use that.
since my phone did get repaired already (my screen broke) i could manually disconnect the battery but that didn't work either, i tried a new battery too but to no succes.
I also tried all the button combinations, the only mode i could enter was fastboot mode (blue led) and it would stay on but still no sign of a normal booting process.
The yellow button near the sdcard slot didn't work either.
When i put my phone to charge at the wallsocket the led stays red and it won't reboot all the time, but after 15 minutes the red led disappears and it seems like the phone isn't charging at all.

Today it got worse, my pc can't detect my phone anymore and the bootloop stopped too, the led stays red when charging (usb and wallsocket) but after some time the led disappears.
I can't enter fastboot mode anymore.. plainly said; nothing works anymore.

Anyone knows how to fix this problem?
Sony doesn't want to repair it for me since i fixed my screen externally so i hope for solution :(

Intex cloud swift 4g

INTEX CLOUD SWIFT

A device having power of 4g, USB OTG support, Hd display etc in a very affordabl price of 8000rs.

After a month of use, i found that device is packed with performence of sony xperia and beauty of android material themes lollipop 5.1

Didnt found much flows in hardware or software. But a thing to mention is that the 2500 mAh battery runs 8 hours on 3g downloading.

Now starting the specifications.

1--> DISPLAY

A 720*1280 resolution display with soft navigation buttons inside scren display, leaving only 720*1182 resolution as maine diaplay.

Hd resolution with 320dpi ands the device in the range of medium pixel density devices.

LCD panels display with MIRA VISION software where you can control pre definednset of assets ofndisplay like brightness, contrast, sharpness, color temperature, color quantity, and dynamic contrast.

Touchpanel is multitouch supported upto 5 fingures.

****the device minimum brightness is a little too high for night use. I recommend using an app named "Dimley".

2--> BACK CAMERA

8MP camera with resolution of 3840*2160 (16:9 ratio) and 3264*2448 (4:3 ratio) and 2160:2160 (1:1 ratio)

Camcoder having 1920*1080 as 1080p

Single Led flashlight and auto focus. zero shutter lag click option is awsome

3--> FRONT CAMERA

5MP camer with resolution of 3072*1728 (16:9 ratio) and 2560*1920 (4:3 ratio) and 1728*1728 (1:1 ratio)

Camcoder having 720*480 as 480p

No flashlight in front but zero lag shutter click option avilable

####The camera app is having good options to control the jpeg quality like sharpness, contrast, brightness, hue etc.

****i recommend using camera mx app

4--> CONNECTIVITY

Having dual sim comfort made more comfortable with 4g emabled on both sim.

Both sim can run on 2g/3g/4g.

Micro sim slots.

Wifi/hotspot/wifi direct features avilable. HotKnow is a good frature for connecting teo intex cloud swift devices together.

GPS for navigtion. Useful on offline maps for navigtion between places.

USB OTG supported. Run harddisk, flash drives, usb periferals, gamepads etc qith the devices.

Bluetooth having internet sharing option is good.

5--> BATTERY

2500 mAh 3.7V removable battery is just barable with this device. The battery is not made to last a day, but can go at 6-8 hours for gamers and 20-25 hours on 2g moderate use amd 40-48 hours of no internet and moderate use with less screen wakeups.

Battery drains from 100% to 88% in 1:55 hours of playing Hd movie at full volume and lowest brightness.

Brothers in arms 3 drain approx 3-5% battery in one stage. While caatle defence drain 3-5% battery in 4-5 stages.

Music playback is good eminem 17 song album drin 8% battery.

****i do not recommend downloading any dattery defender or app like that. They simply run background and consumes.more battery.

6--> PERFORMENCE AND STORAGE

3gb RAM (2.8gb usable) is very fast. I never got a hang in my 2 and a half month use of the device havng more than 30 apps installed and 6 big games like gangster vagus and brother in arms 3 and mortal kombat x.

Quad core 1.3ghz cortex a53 processor gave the device wings and withbtht power you can play two games one at foreground while other at background.

MALI T720 gpu giving device graphics a peak performence and quality ballance. Thia gpu can take heavy loads of graphics without lags. I playes brother in arms 3 and gangster vagus and mortal kombat x at highest graphics without lag.

internal 16gb (11.5gb to 11.2gb usable) and an external support of 128gb. Have a single sd card slot.

Basically while on 3g use and all apps updating like whatsapp, facebook all gapps, twitter, 1.3 gb is free RAM sonyounjever face a hang problem.

****do not install any RAM booster they drain battery and kills system.apps sometimes creating trouble.in longrun.

7--> SENSORS

ACCELOMETER
PROXMITY SENSOR
LIGHT SENSOR
THERMAL SENSOR (for battery and other motherboard related hardwares)

8--> SPECIALS

Device is packed with amazing features like Smart Wake feature and gesture control boosting devuce user interface to extremes level. MIRA VISION is a mind blowing feature to use.HotKnot is a feature like sony's NFC.

Lollipop 5.1 version used in this device allows uaer to move apps and huge game data to external sd card and save internal space WITHOUT ROITING.

After using device inthink intex will release a marshmellow update. But i dont know when.

Device have its oum sound enhansments for speaker, head phones and bluetooth.

These are the features packed in a very affordable android device. Now time to look at bugs and loops in devices.

1--> to download big apps from play store. You have to unmount your sd card first then download big apps from play store.after doing that mount your sd card and move app to sd card. Then after moving app , manually move data of that app to sd card.

2--> have many pre installed bloatwares. They cant be stotally removed.

3--> a low power battery for heavy users.

4--> camera have no special sensor like BSI, XMOR etc

5-->default gallery app is robust and did not refines images on zooming.

****i recommend using gingerbread gallery app from play store.

This is a complete review of intex cloud swift 4g. If i didnt mention anything special of you have any questions. Just reply the post or message me

If this helped please hit thanks.

Bricked i747 Galaxy S3, Odin Stuck on "Initialization"

Hey guys, so I finally decided to post here after spending an embarrassing amount of time trying to fix my problem and getting nowhere. I have an i747 Samsung Galaxy S3 that gets stuck on the loading screen when booting, and won't go into recovery mode (download mode works fine). I have tried to flash the original 4.3 firmware using Odin with no success...it keeps getting stuck on the "Initialization" step. I've tried 3 different cables, 2 different laptops with 5 usb ports in total, 3 different versions of Odin (3.07, 3.09, 3.10) all to no avail. I have downloaded the Samsung Mobile Drivers and my computer does recognize the device (though it thinks its a modem and not a phone). I'd appreciate some assistance in reviving my device, thanks!

Might be important so i'll mention it. I cannot remember the most recent firmware that the phone was displaying before it died, it might have been 4.1 or 4.2 but I read somewhere else that if it says "Warranty Bit" in download mode that implies it is 4.3?

I've also tried using two different md5 files, one from http://ift.tt/1Ofh3GH and the other from http://ift.tt/1NZypLT

In download mode, my phone displays this:

Odin Mode
Product Name: SGH-I747
Custom Binary Download: No
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
Qualcomm Secureboot: Enable
Warranty Bit: 0
BOOTLOADER RP SWREV: 2

Questions about the Huawei Honor 5x

Hello,
I recently bought this phone and absolutely love it but couldn't find the answer these two questions:
1. I know the phone doesn't have Corning glass on it. How fickle is the screen. Like will it not even survive a fall from 2-3 feet? If so what would be a good tempered glass protector for this phone? Preferrably a thin one.
2. How do I make the 'Hangouts Dialer' the default app for calling? Every time I click a phone number it goes to the Dialer and then from there it only gives me an option to go through my carrier?

Repartition Nabi2 to remove / reallocate "addon" partition?

All,

I've done quite a bit of searching and can't seem to find a good tutorial or method for re-partitioning the NABI2-NV7A to remove the "addon" partition and reallocate its space elsewhere. I would ideally like to put the extra space in the system and data partitions. Has anyone successfully done this? Is it a bad / more risky than normal for XDA users are used to?

I currently have the 3.0.13 KK debloated ROM from n3wt and the latest TWRP 2.8.5.0v2 from aicjofs installed, as well as Links2SD setup with a second ext4 partition on my SD card. I have formatted the addon partition per terminal command instructions for the Nabi2 found elsewhere. Links2SD is not always reliable as it often causes the system to hang when moving data to the second partition. I have seen the post from ashahin1 that sets up this similar second partition without the need for Links2SD - is this more reliable?

Any advice or direction someone can send me in would be very helpful. Thanks!

Touch Screen not working properly. please help asap

For last 7-8 days, TouchScreen of my Micromax Canvas HD A116i is facing Ghost Touch problem i.e. while i was playing games, check emails or just holding the phone, it got touch impression all over the screen randomly.
But yesterday i found that my phone's screen and navigation keys(home, back etc) now freezes after 5 seconds of phone unlock. I left the phone to sunlight for hours to get rid of any possible moisture but no use. The problem still persisting. I think its a digitizer problem. Company's service Center is asking Rs 1800 for repair without giving any info about the problem. I think its too much and perhaps i may fix at my own. Guys please help ASAP. I know there are lot of veterans who can understand and resolve my issue.
Any help or advice is appreciable. Thanks in advance.

Adb shell pm Unhide not working

I haven't used my Amazon Fire Tablet for a long time. Recently, I took it out and charged it. The battery life after full charge was downright awful. It went down to almost half (50%) overnight without use and wifi off. Clicking on Battery in Setting doesn't provide detailed info on Fire OS. So, I installed better battery stats and it appears that the tablet is not entering deep sleep mode. The tablet is on 5.1.1 build LMY470. It was rooted with 1-click root utility (I don't recall right now which one it was) from the forum. I wanted to update the device firmware. I used "adb shell pm hide" to disable bloatware including automatic updates. When I tried "adb shell pm unhide" it doesn't change the status to "false". It shows new hidden status "true" despite "unhide" command. I suspect the rooting tool may have override some setting that is not allowing me to change the status. Has anybody experienced this issue? How can I solve this problem? How can I improved battery life on stock? How can I force the device to deep sleep or find out what is preventing it from entering deep sleep?

[HELP] Settings app not showing after edition

So, I started creating a custom ROM for my device, I edited '/system/priv-app/Settings/Settings.apk' signed with ZipSigner, as i saw a tutorial, i signed with one option marked as platform, then I replace the app and rebooted my phone. When I open menu, Settings is not showing anymore. What did I do wrong?
I'm using Android 5.0.2.
I just edited some strings and an image.
I'm just 'editing' a custom ROM with custom apps.
The ROM works perfectly in my phone and I just edited some things that were already modified by the porter of the ROM.

Which FREE/PAID THEME you are using on your Xperia SP?

Either you are using stock 4.3.3 or CM 12.1 or 13 (as CM Theme Engine is really powerful), share the name of theme you are using and if possible share link from where you have downloaded. No warez links please. :D

Screenshots of home-screen would be highly appreciated.

Battery Usage - Leaving the tablet on all of the time

I'm an Uber/Lyft driver and I use my 1st gen Shield (Vulkan preview with 6.01 update) as my primary device while driving. If I have both Uber and Lyft apps open, with Google Maps and Google Play Music, I generally only get about five hours of life from the tablet even when plugged into power in my car. I'm using an Omaker USB charger and the Shield is plugged into the 2.1A port. Sometimes I use my N6 and have no issues with the battery; the N6 will charge and stay at 100% no matter the duration of usage. Generally when I use my Shield in the car, the brightness is turned down as low as I can stand it, generally below 50%. Any suggestions? I'm open to putting on another ROM if that's what it takes.

Titanium Backup question

I'm having trouble transferring my sms / mms messages from my HTC One_M8 to my 10. I'm running ViperOne on both phones. However the m8 is on an older android platform. I've tried creating the update.zip and flashing in recovery and that doesn't work. I've also tried restoring it thru the app with no success. I used sms pro to restore the sms messages for now. Its not a big deal deal but I'd like to have my mms messages.

[S7390][Kernel][V1]M99 custom kernel

A custom kernel made for better performance:)

Features:
  • Sources upgraded to 3.4.112
  • added ROW and deadline i/o scheduler
  • Compiled with gcc linaro 4.8

ROW
ROW stands for "READ Over WRITE"which is the main requests dispatch policy of this algorithm. The ROW IO scheduler was developed with the mobile devices needs in mind. In mobile devices we favor user experience upon everything else, thus we want to give READ IO requests as much priority as possible. In mobile devices we won¡¯t have as much parallel threads as on desktops. Usually it¡¯s a single thread or at most 2 simultaneous working threads for read & write. Favoring READ requests over WRITEs decreases the READ latency greatly.

Deadline
The goal of the Deadline scheduler is to attempt to guarantee a start service time for a request. It does that by imposing a deadline on all I/O operations to prevent starvation of requests. It also maintains two deadline queues, in addition to the sorted queues (both read and write). Deadline queues are basically sorted by their deadline (the expiration time), while the sorted queues are sorted by the sector number.

Before serving the next request, the Deadline scheduler decides which queue to use. Read queues are given a higher priority, because processes usually block on read operations. Next, the Deadline scheduler checks if the first request in the deadline queue has expired. Otherwise, the scheduler serves a batch of requests from the sorted queue. In both cases, the scheduler also serves a batch of requests following the chosen request in the sorted queue.

Download
V1

Installation
-go into recovery
-install m99-kernel.zip
-reboot

In future version:
-i will add some other i/o scheduler
-i will try to upgrade more
-i wont add any cpu governor, because this device is poor and for be usable need all cpu power(this is why performance is the default governor)
-i will add s7392 version

Can't root my ZenFone 2 Z008 (550ML)

Hi guys, I'm having troubles trying to root my ZF2 550ML.

I downloaded the official ROM from Asus, should I wipe everything then reinstall the ROM from the recovery?

No SIM and Wi-Fi dropping issues

- vs985 -

About 3 days ago my phone started to have Wi-Fi disconnecting issues. I formatted everything outside of external sd card and put back the same rom I had installed with no previous issues, xdabbeb's 47a rooted following instructions 100% as I had previously. Still, wifi issues where it will connect / disconnect. Rebooting the phone or turning on / off wifi or even bluetooth has no effect. Complete randomness seems to "fix" it but wifi will only stay on for a few minutes at a time. Multiple other devices on my same network have no issues. Still, rebooted and even factory reset the router just to be sure. No change.

Something I thought was an isolated issue, I had a "no sim" message a few months ago and Verizon replaced my sim card and the problem seemed to go away. Today though, while trying another reformat, I got the "no sim" card on the initial setup screen and before even finishing the setup via wifi, the wifi disconnected multiple times.

I'm thinking hardware is to blame especially since there were no apps installed to conflict with the os software.

I'm really not wanting a new phone, should I look to replace the motherboard? I can diy it np. Or, should I bite the bullet and buy a ::shutter:: new phone.

Orrrr... is there anything else I should try software wise?

No change.

Full Disk Encryption hangs for hours on rooted SM-910C

Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-910-C which I have rooted with the stock samsung rom, installing SuperSU (through CF-Auto-Root if I recall correctly).

I have attempted to do a full-disk encryption trough the default Security menu; the phone went into a black screen with a green outline android robot in the center, with no progress bar or text of any kind (I found the image online, but can't post it due to account lack of privilege) . It has been on this same screen for over 6 hours.

I'm not too worried about any files in it, but I'd like to make sure to be able to recover the phone without bricking it. After a quick search, it appears that attempting to encrypt a rooted system was a bad idea...

What are your suggestions?

Thank you very much.

Lenovo A816 Rooting

Hello. Could anyone help me with rooting this phone? I have tried all the once click apps out there and I've tried the computer based ones too. My phone is Lenovo A816. Its in Chinese, but English language is installed. Could I put a custom rom on it too? Please help. Starting to think its impossible to root this phone. I have looked everywhere all over the internet to no avail.

Thanks.

Can a LG K7 get bricked by rooting?

I had a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, I was watching
Some youtube videos on hoe to root your phone, I thought it would work because of how many likes the video got. I did not know about devices being bricked at this time. So i downloaded kingroot and attempted root. It said root successful, so i plated around with some rooted apps then I tried to restart my phone it showed this. Yellow triange (Custom Binary Blocked by FRP) I regretted everything. Then I got a new phone, same brand. 5 months after having the phone my friends told me that they rooted their device and it didnt get bricked, I was told if i use the newest version of kingroot i wouldnt get bricked, so of course I tried to root, GOT BRICKED AGAIN 😈. A week after my 2nd phone got bricked there was this mothersday sale in T-Mobile, so i got an LG K7 for 96 bucks. Right now I have this bestfriend who has the same phone as me (LG K7) and he said he rooted it with no problems, not bricked. nothing. Right now im struggling if I should root or not. Is it only Samsung devices that can get blocked by the FRP? Help!!

  • What is XOSP and how was it born?
    • XOSP stands for the Xperia Open Source Project. The project was initially created by me @nilac) for the Galaxy S+ (my old device) years ago. Back then the ROM was called S+ Reborn. The vision was to create a minimal bloat free ROM which included Sony Xperia specific apps and various tweaks users would expect from a custom ROM.
S+ Reborn became a success and was eventually ported to different devices so from there I rebranded and XOSP project was founded. I worked on the project for 2 years always trying to improve it. Eventually, Because of the fact Lollipop was buggy on my Galaxy S+ (Which I maintained xosp for at the time) I decided to take a break from development until I got my hands on the zenfone 2 which from there xosp development has continued ever since.

LG G3 (D852) MTP Problem

Okay so before anyone says this has been solved before it hasn't, I have scoured the internet left and right and I have not found any way to fix this problem. Also just as a pre FYI it's not just the LG G3, it's also happening with my work provided Samsung Galaxy S5 and my girlfriend's S7.
So here we go, no matter what I have tried or pulled off, I cannot get my new (old) laptop to recognize any device I plug into any of its 5 USB ports (3 USB 3.0, 2 USB 2.0, 1 USB 3.0 enabled with Super Charger), now as for the details, the laptop has windows 10 installed and to be more specific it's an msi gt70 0nc, so it's a higher end gaming laptop and I have tried everything and it just won't connect to any phone I plug into it.
And before anyone says if I've tried another laptop I have, to be specific I've plugged both phones into my lady's HP Envy with Windows 10 and both were recognized just fine.
If anyone is wondering here are the measures I've taken:

Installed LG United Mobile Driver (almost every version available)
Installed LG Mobile Driver (once again, every version available)
Installed LG PC Suite (Doesn't detect phone)
Tried switching phone between USB debugging and MTP PTP And Charge Only and every combination in between.
Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Media Player as it carries the MTP protocols.
Have tried installing the Media Feature Pack for windows 10 N and KN off of the Microsoft website
Have tried uninstalling the drivers manually and forcing an update on the drivers with no avail.
Have tried messing with the BIOS USB Settings on the laptop.
Disabled driver signature enforcement
Tried Safe Mode on both Laptop and Phones
Installed the Universal Google Driver
Installed ADB and fastboot (ADB doesn't detect the phone)
Installed KIES to try the Samsung (Doesn't detect phone)
Tried forcing generic MTP inf files

I'm honestly insanely frustrated and all I want is for this device to show up in my computer so I can install some roms and tinker. I've been trying all I could for the past 24 hours (Lost sleep) with no avail. Nothing seems to be wrong with the USB Ports as I have a Logitech unifying receiver plugged in for a mouse and it works, it just seems like this laptop doesn't like Android devices.

Going to device manager and forcing an update does nothing, the device sometimes shows up as "Unknown Device", sometimes shows up as "LGE Android Net MTP Device" and sometimes as "LGE Android Mtp Device", forcing the update yields the result "The driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary entry, This may be because the INF was written for Windows 95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor" This happens with both the LG and the Samsung. Any help would be appreciated. If anyone needs any more information or logs don't hesitate to ask.

RAM limitation on non-Pro configuration

Hi, I heard MIUI reserves 1GB+ for itself. Can any of non-Pro version owners report RAM sufficiency for common operation (multitasking, running user apps in background etc.). How much complexity the present memory allows? Is killing apps in background frequent? How about lagging?
Is there any real test comparison between Pro and non-Pro configuration?
And finally is it worth to drop ~$30 more for Pro version (as about phone smooth performance and fingerprint scanner)

Does the Mate 7 display item size

Hi guys.

Does the Mate 7 support the feature of Mate 8 that allows you to set the display item sizes to small/medium/large? If so, is it innately available in EMUI 3.0 or you need to upgrade to EMUI 4.0 with the Lollipop/Marshmallow update?

Thanks for immediate answers!

Deleted OS?

The other day I was using my phone and it started to die on me so I plugged it in to charge. I guess it was too low power, so when I plugged it in, it powered down and started charging via phone off. Later I come back to turn it on and it just gets stuck in bootloop. I haveTWRP installed so I cleared the dalvik cache and regular cache. That didn't work. So the next time I just did a factory restore, well after the restore I now have no files on my phone. No OS nothing.

When I plug the phone in via USB the computer chimes and lets me know something was plugged in but I don't get any other messages. If I plug my phone in while in recovery it shows the device with zero folders.

I am sure I can fix it from here, but while using WUGS Root Tool Kit my computer keeps telling me that no "FastBoot Devices" found. How do I fix that?

I would like to just flash an image if possible if someone can walk me through the process or any help would be great.

[H850][Layer] AOSP statusbar icons

Introduction

This is to confirm that RRO Layers work on the G5 (H850). I tested it on 10C.
Layers is an extension of run-time resource overlay (RRO). RRO is a framework created by Sony for them to create Xperia themes but also for quick internal prototyping. Layers uses the native android code to do what it does. It is absolutely secure. Layers allows you to theme every app individually which also adds the ability to mix and match various layer packages, cool isn't it? For more information look here: http://ift.tt/1WtPLnl and at the G+ community.

This is the start of my themes for the G5 if I can find time to work on them.

How to use it?

Install Layers Manager from the Store first. You need to be rooted and to have BusyBox installed.
Run Layers Manager, it will create a folder "overlay" on your sdcard. Then dowload the G5HybridStatusbar.apk and install it and reboot. That is it.

About "robotic voice issue"

Hey all,

some of us suffer from the robotic voice issue and the discussion in the dev forums gets out of control, so I decided to open an own thread for this topic.
I hope this will reduce the off-topic talk in the ROM threads (which is against xda rules by the way ;) ). Also this will maybe help the devs to find a solution eventually as they dont have to search through the 500pages in the dev forum to find any useful comments on the topic.
Further I would like to share how to live with the problem :D

For many users this issue is a dealbreaker for using a ROM. I personally adapted to it as those ROMs/builds without the issue are extremely poor when it comes to performance and especially battery life for me. The current version of the device tree massively improves those too aspects at cost of bringing the robotic voice issue, which is good so, as the issue only affects a few and it can be easily worked-around.

What you can do to work-around the issue:
  1. turn network mode to 2G
Go to Settings => Cellular networks => Preferred network type => 2G
Of course this means that your mobile internet will be way slower. All background service will run without any problems. Only when you for example stream music or videos online or maybe want to use the browser (in fact, therefore it wouldnt even really be necessary) you would have to switch to 3G/4G.
I have the robotic voice issue on every outgoing call when on 3G/4G and never had the problem on 2G. So this is a very stable workaround :good:
Also I have found an app called "Toggle Network Type 5.0" PlayStore - xda
It requires root but using a custom ROM that shouldnt be a deal-breaker. With this app, you can create an widget that toggles between network modes that you can select. So for example to toggle between 2G and 3G/4G
That means it is only one tap on a widget from ready to take a call to highspeed mobile internet :fingers-crossed:
  2. use dual-boot
I'mTheMr released a dualboot app for our device G800F xda-thread. I am using it quite a while now and never had any problems with it. The ROMs are installed to internal storage. Having a device with 12gb internal storage this is absolutely no problem. You can access files, photos etc. from all ROMs.

So you have one ROM (works with rooted stock ROM as well!!!) that you can rely on, say your work partition and when you want to use a custom ROM with all its fancy features and the robotic voice issue is atm no deal-breaker you just choose your secondary in the app and reboot =)

I really hope that one of the devs will take a deeper look into that issue sooner or later. I can put up with it, but getting rid of this problem once and for all would of course be way nicer.

What we know about the issue (or think to know :silly: ):

First of all the bug appears only on marshmallow ROMs, not on lollipop ROMs.
As I said before it is connected to the latest changes in the device tree by hennymcc, which switched the phone libs. Considering that it doesnt appear on 2G, one can assume that it is the part that controls the mobile data / voLTE. That also means that basically every new ROM has the same bug because they all share hennymcc's device tree.

The ROMs that have the robotic voice issue are:
CM 13 (there are builds that dont have it, but I am speaking of the latest build)
Resurrection Remix
Tesla

ROMs that dont have the robotic voice issue:
Bliss ROM (latest build used the older version of device tree)
PAC-ROM 5
CM 12.1

I have this issue with every outgoing call others only calling specific numbers/providers and most of the users dont have the problem at all. So, it could be related to the provider one uses or more precisely the frequencies your provider uses.

And thats about all information I can provide to the topic. Feel free to add things that I forgot to mention or just dont know and when someone wants to have any specific logs just tell what you need and I am sure there will come a lot then ;) I will of course add a call log with and without robotic voice (2g/3g) but probably not today.

PS: Please excuse the noob language used here and there, I am obviously no dev
